Falcon is a member of the Hawkeye PMC range of radar, video and graphics boards. It is an integrated graphics and video windows card that supports a full range of display resolutions up to 1280×1024 pixels.
Falcon uses the Silicon Motion Lynx3DM graphics controller offering the advantage of low power dissipation whilst maintain- ing high power 3D and 2D performance. The Lynx3DM incorporates an IEEE Floating Point Setup engine as well as a fully featured 3D rendering engine.
Falcon’s video input accepts composite (CVBS), S-Video (Y/C) or RGB video in PAL, NTSC or SECAM formats. Monochrome
video in CCIR or RS-170 format is also supported. Video input of non-inter- laced RGB video (e.g. VGA 640×480) is also possible. Video windows generated from the video input may be optionally zoom enlarged to full screen or zoom reduced down to one sixteenth original size.
Video output from Falcon is either analogue RGB, digital DVI or analogue TV (Windows NT 4.0/2000 only). The card supports 8-bit, 16-bit or 24- bit colour. A wide range of interlaced and non-interlac- ed formats are supported, including STANAG 3350 AVS Class A. The DVI output may be used as an input to other boards in the Hawkeye PMC range (such
as the Eagle PMC Radar Scan Converter) to offer display combinations of radar, video and graphics.
Falcon features a rugged design with low power dissipation. This allows it to operate in a wide range of environments, including conditions of high temper- ature and vibration.
A broad range of soft- ware support is provided for the card. Applications may be developed running under Linux, Solaris (Intel x86 only), LynxOS or Microsoft Windows NT 4.0/ 2000 (graphics only).
